Cheltenham Archers was founded in 1857 by the greatest target archer of his time, Horace Ford. Horace Ford was twelve times national champion and innovator of many of the archery techniques still employed today.

Since the days of Horace Ford, the club has enjoyed a long tradition of fine archers and is fortunate to count amongst its members past and present Archery GB International Archers, Master Bowmen, County Champions, County Team Members and fully qualified Coaches.

Cheltenham Archers are located at ‘Oakleaf Field’ on the edge of the famous Cheltenham Racecourse site.

Oakleaf Field is regarded within the archery community as one of the best grounds in the county. We enjoy excellent facilities including having the targets permanently laid out at all distances, both Metric and Imperial.

Archers can use the field any day at any time and should the weather turn inclement there is a comfortable clubhouse with toilets, tea and coffee-making facilities.

Archers of all disciplines are welcome at Cheltenham Archers; compound, recurve, barebow, longbow and other traditional bows all have their enthusiastic followers at the club, with many members proficient in more than one discipline.

Many of Cheltenham Archers shoot competitively and have been very successful. Other members choose to shoot at club level and enjoy archery as a pastime, unwinding at the range. What ever you want to achieve, archery is a sport that all ages and abilities can enjoy.
