Autumn is Here – September

Ali and Dave at Two Rivers

At the Two Rivers WA Star 1440 St.Kingsmark tournament on 2nd Sept Ali came 2nd with her sixth tournament MB score this season to finish 2nd behind Pauline Burfitt. Dave came 5th.

Final Bow Meet

The annual Final Bow Meet took place on 14th September, and while the results are yet to be published (presentations will be at the AGM in October), everyone had a great time and took advantage of the good weather. Unfortunately, the traditional goose target had gone AWOL so a replacement goose was sourced thanks to Edward and his artistic skills (it doesn’t look anything like a kiwi or a platypus!!), and the final part of shoot could go ahead. The victors are shown below their winning arrows – well done! Trophies will be coming your way at the AGM!

Shooting for the County

Some of our members were selected to represent Gloucestershire at the GWAS Inter-counties shoot in Exeter on 22nd September. Gloucestershire came first in the compound category and second in the longbow category thanks to the excellent performances by Emma, Tony, Ali and Dave. Ali came second in the individual ladies compound category with a new PB and beating some current and previous GB team members. Emma came third for ladies longbow, also achieving a PB for a WA 1440. Tony came third in the gents longbow category and securing a new club record in the process.

Well Done Emma!

On 21st September Cheltenham Archers hosted the annual Horace Ford Two-Way Western Longbow Tournament where Emma collected her first win in the ladies category.

New Indoor Range

From 1st October our indoor training will be held at The Rock on Tewkesbury Road. We have three sessions booked per week over the autumn/winter months and it is a really good training venue.
