Easter Bunny Shoot, 27th April 2014
Our annual charity Easter Bunny competition exceeded everyone’s expectations. The competition this year was in aid of the Severn Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service, who provide a free out-of-hours courier service for hospitals in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, North Wiltshire and Herefordshire, They were the recipients of the proceeds from the shoot. We had a fantastic turnout of volunteers from the club who set up the field with thirty bosses. So a big thank you goes to them as this was a big task which ran like clockwork as ever. So the scene was set and the archery lived up to the occasion. We had a record turnout of archers, the juniors shot exceedingly well with lots of PB’s and medals, this was matched by the adults who also had a great day and made the club proud. The volunteers in the kitchen worked tirelessly all day with plenty of bacon butties and cake, feeding the record turnout of archers. We donated from the day £550 exceeding last years £500. So all in all a great day all round.
It was a day of many "firsts". 30 bosses full, with a waiting list. 28 different Clubs were represented. 27 Cheltenham Archers actually booked to shoot. Austin Whitmarsh shot a Short Junior National County Record 72/52/608 Two other Junior County Records were claimed (not Glos). One of the judges travelled down from Preston, Lancs. Another competitor came up from Eastbourne. We raised £550 for The Severn Freewheelers (last year £500). The shooting was all in the dry, even if the Raffle and Prize giving took place in a thunder storm. A grand start to out Tournament year. Results: Easter Bunny Charity Tournament, 21:4:14
