2019 Animal Shoot

Cheltenham Archers doesn’t have it’s own field course but that doesn’t stop us from having a go! For the last few years we have held a summer animal shoot where 2D and 3D animal targets (not actual animals!) are set up at Oakleaf field at different heights and unknown distances. Our members are then challenged to complete the course.

This is all followed, naturally, by plenty of food and socialising afterwards!

This year we increased our 3D animal contingent to include a baboon, a grouse and raccoon, as well as our original “Barry” boar (pictured above being held gently by Dave – the least he could do after Barry’s ordeal that evening). The 2D animal targets included a black bear, lion, armadillo and a spider, among others.

Nineteen archers took part; comprising compounds, recurves, barebows, longbows and a jelly bow. Thank you to all of them for getting involved, helping set-up/take-down, and for bringing contributions to the buffet.
