A Grand Day Out Had by All, Rangers Lawn Field Shoot.
On Sunday 10th November a small but hardy contingent of Cheltenham Archers arrived at Rangers Lawn, Oxfordshire to take part in a Windrush Bowmen field shoot.
The weather was bright and cool, unlike the Cheltenham Archers who could only be described as a motley bunch, and the woods were full of autumnal colours and sunshine.
After signing in and the chance of a cup of tea at the Windrush clubhouse the Cheltenham mob were warmly welcomed, divided into groups and packed off onto the course to do their worst.
A total of twenty paper and 3D targets had been set out along the circular course. These ranged from a small armadillo at about 10 yards to a large standing bear at a somewhat longer range.
Despite the initial shock of shooting in woods rather than on a flat, mown field, the Cheltenham miscreants were rumoured to have actually managed to hit the odd target. In fact one of the group even started to show off by shooting a falling leaf which ended up impaled on his arrow in the target.
All in all an enjoyable morning was had by all, despite the odd lost arrow and dented ego and we would like to thank Windrush Bowmen for giving us an opportunity to shoot in their beautiful woods.
At the end of the day we couldn’t have done too badly as Windrush have already kindly invited us back for their Boxing Day Fun Shoot. So… If you fancy a bash let Ian know on
