Archery GB Talent Festival, Club Juniors “Shine”. Report, Pictures and Results.
Emily and Lexie took part in the Archery GB Talent festival held for a week at Lilleshall. They took part in an international-format competition lasting from Monday to Friday, starting with a ranking 720 round at either 50m for cubs ( up to age 13) or 60m for cadets ( aged14+)
After the 720 rounds, both Lexie and Emily were seeded second in their respective age groups.
Tuesday and Wednesday involved round robin matches, where all archers had a head to heads with the first archer to get six points winning the tie. This formed a league table.
Following these matches Emily was seeded third And Lexie remained second.
On the Thursday morning there was good fun in team matches, followed in the afternoon by the top eight ranked archers competing in individual knock out head to head matches.
Emily and Lexie both won through some tough competition to the gold/ silver medal matches.
On the Friday morning, the tournament moved to the Astroturf in front of the archery pod, and the field was laid up in international style with just two targets for the crowd to see.
Lexie was in the match with the number one ranked cub, and came through a tight match to win 6-4 taking the gold medal
Emily was also up against the number one seed and went down early to 4-0, but brought the match back to 5-3. She lost the next end but was delighted with her silver medal.
The girls collected their medals on a podium, and the national anthem was played for the winning country.
Well done girls!
