Agincourt 600 (1415/2015) Commemoration.
25th October 1415, 28 year old King Henry of England faces his greatest test. His small army is sick, exhausted and trapped by at least three times their number of fresh, confident French Troops. The unavoidable battle that followed was to write archers into history, as one of the greatest English victories, and to immortalise the name of a small French village – Agincourt.
To commemorate the 600th anniversary of this historic event Cheltenham Archers are holding an event for all members and invited Archers from across the county. The proposed event will take the form of a day of “Medieval Archery Challenges”. Everyone is encouraged to dress in medieval costume.
The challenges are for Longbow/barebow only – Club “Jelly Bows” can be loaned if a member does not have a suitable bow of their own.
This event will take place at Oakleaf field on Sunday 18th October – a week early than the actual 600 in case there are other national events planned.
We are still in the process of selecting and refining the “challenges” but to provide a flavour of the day the following are planned :-

There will be Food during the day, and a small exhibition in the clubhouse.
