National Series Final, 1st September.
A warm and sunny day greeted the hundreds of spectators who came to Woolaton Hall to watch this years National Series Finals.
A tricky variable wind caused problems to the archers but this made for compelling competition.
The day comprised Men & Womens compound and recurve matches where the four top archers in each division from the season long qualification events competed in head to head elimination matches.
There were also three demonstration matches one of which included Kerian Slater with Sophie Cole, as their “mentor” had not arrived they needed a reserve – Graham Williams stepped into the breach.
Cheltenham Archers had an interest in the mens recurve as Ashe Morgan had qualified in first place.
The recurve mens matches were as follows –
Semi Finals
Alan Wills beat Larry Godfrey 7 – 3
Ashe Morgan and Michael Judd tied at 5 points each so a one minute shoot off was needed, the arrow nearest the spider in the centre of the gold would decide the winner, this was won by Michael Judd thus relegating Ashe to the Bronze medal match against Larry Godfrey.
Bronze Medal Match.
Ashe Morgan beat Larry Godfrey 6 – 0 Well Done Ashe !!!
Gold Medal Match.
Alan Wills beat Michael Judd 6-0 thus winning his first National Series title.
